"We Are Still Here: How First Nations Survived Pandemics and Other Catastrophes" is an examination of how Native Peoples throughout the Western Hemisphere overcame epidemics, land theft, forced relocation and the violent attempt to assimilate them through the boarding school system. Examples of contemporary challenges include MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) and voter suppression. Despite these and other consequences of colonialism, Indigenous Peoples survive and thrive and persist in seeking peaceful solutions.
